To a child, romance is mysterious. The idea of one day becoming a bride eludes most young girls. Their dreamy interpretation of that special ceremony seldom is realized. Often, it is the dream that hinders the actual event, for our expectations tend to affect how we experience reality.
"They've Landed!" was an endeavor to articulate the dream. The sporadic movement of the dresses and the flickering light underneath each piece mesmerized the eye.
The installation was featured in "ArtRageous," a benefit for the Greater Memphis Arts Council. The "space spectacular" theme of the event was chosen in response to the U.F.O shape of the Mid-South Coliseum. The theme suited "They've Landed!," since the odd movement of the work resembled something that might have been other worldly.
